It was another lazy and busy brunch at The Sardine Room, and Bill, Chaim, Dave, Matt were joined by our favorite live painter, Jody Bauman, who created "Lazy River." We created lots of wonderful moments that should not be missed! Your next chance to catch us at the Sardine Room is Saturday, February 24.

Join Bill, Chaim, Dave, and Matt for another Grateful Brunch at the Sardine Room. We'll be playing your favorite Dead tunes for your entertainment.
photos: Michael Chojnowski unless otherwise noted What a night it was! Playing to a sold out special event of over 2100 Deadheads, our third Grateful Dead night at the Detroit Red Wings was an unparalleled success. Chris Hines' OnSight75 Productions arrived at noon with the sound, along with drummers Chaim Tolwin and Joseph Waldecker (rejoining us for this gig) and keyboardist Alex Gauthier. At 2 the rest of the band, guitarists Dave Martin and Matt Cole, singer Laurie Lester (also reuniting), and bassist Bill Butler arrived with our video production director, Michael Stork of The Funk Shop and our photographer, Michael Chojnowski.
At 3:30 the fans started pouring in and receiving their promotional jerseys. The show started promptly at 4pm and together we traveled through space and time using the music we all so love. Playing a nearly seamless set, Raising The Dead weaved unexpected transitions, callbacks, and "gazintas" to leave a smoking crater in Little Caesars Arena where the stage once stood. If you were there, you know! Photos, video, and audio coming very soon! Thanks to Payten Mahoney of the Red Wings for inviting us back, and to all the fans who make it all worthwhile. We can't wait to do it again next year! 1-13-2024 Little Caesars Arena Detroit, MI The Music Never Stopped > Scarlet Begonias > Ruben and Cerise > The Music Never Stopped, St. Stephen > Not Fade Away > St. Stephen > William Tell Bridge > Brown Eyed Women > The Eleven > Drums > Stella Blue > Throwing Stones > Uncle John's Band UPDATE: as of Sunday 1/7, special event tickets have sold out. THANK YOU! Doors at 3:30, show 4-5:30, game at 7. The time is nearly here! We're getting the band back together: Bill, Chaim, Dave, Matt, Alex, with Joseph and Laurie for a super-kind set of Grateful Dead at Little Caesars Arena. Special tickets will get you in for a 4-5:30pm concert and the 7pm game, along with the special event jersey pictured. Get your seats soon, last year we sold out! We've rented the "wall of sound" from OnSight75 Productions and will have the double monitors on stage with an all new, super psychedelic video show by Mike Stork. If you've purchased tickets, keep your eyes open for an email from the Red Wings the week of the event with details. In the mean time, here's a highlight from last year's show. Let's Go Red Wings! RTD's New Year's Run was an overwhelming success, something we don't have to tell you if you made it to any of the gigs! Matt, Dave, Bill, and Chaim played all three, and we were joined by Alex and Joseph for NYE. Jody Bauman live painted for all 3 events, and the heady, Deady vibes were heavy and thicc.
Sardine 12/30 was a cover-heavy set, with 10 of 18 songs written by non-Dead members. Ferndale Project NYE was a family reunion of sorts, lots of the Otus Supply crew came out to see us and shake their bones. NYD PJ Brunch was totally sold out, and the crowd energy carried us through our final sets of the run. After hauling instruments and sound equipment for three days in a row, we were ready for a well deserved break! Dave will work on producing audio and video in the coming weeks, while starting a rock school and giving lessons (more at shinyheadmusic.com) 12.30.23 Grateful Brunch at the Sardine Room, Plymouth, MI (Bill, Dave, Chaim, Matt) I: How Sweet it Is, El Paso, Sugaree, Gomorrah, Let’s Spend the Night Together, Bertha, China > Rider II: Touch of Grey > Psycho Killer, Loose Lucy*, Now and Then*, Dear Prudence, Good Lovin’, Second That Emotion, The Way You do the Things You Do, Might as Well, Run run Rudolph, Ripple * = first time played 12.31.23 Grateful New Year at Ferndale Project, Ferndale, MI (Bill, Dave, Chaim, Matt, Alex, Joseph) I: Let the Good Times Roll, Hard to Handle, Scarlet Begonias, Cassidy, Samson & Delilah, It Must Have Been The Roses, Brown Eyed Women, Loose Lucy II: Help On The Way > Drums# > Help On The Way > Slipknot > Psycho Killer > New Speedway Boogie, Black Throated Wind, Althea, Lazy Lightning > Supplication III: Shakedown Street, Feel Like A Stranger, Happy New Year! > Auld Lang Syne > The Music Never Stopped > Dark Star V1 > Eyes of the World > Dark Star V2 > Dear Prudence > Good Lovin’ > GDTRFB > And We Bid You Goodnight > Franklin’s Tower # = Drums courtesy of a blown fuse.
