Th-th-thank you Detroit! What a pleasure to play our fourth Detroit Red Wings Grateful Dead Night! This year featured a sound system upgrade from Chris Hines' OnStage75 productions, front of house mixing by Dallas Barr, video production by our friend Yorg Keraiotis, a deeper stage, and a killer setlist of Grateful Dead favorites!
We came in hot out of the gate with Quinn the Eskimo - the Dylan classic the Dead usually saved for the encore - then kept the energy up with psych-cowboy numbers Mama Tried into the vocal showcase Cumberland Blues. Next, Here Comes Sunshine got psychedelicc with the classic '73 arrangement. Dancing was the Motown version the Dead played at the beginning and end of their career (not to be confused with the disco one we played a couple years ago), we iced the cake with teases of Third Stone from the Sun and Dark Star. Althea and Eyes (with the '73 coda) showed off Alex's voice, a short but powerful Drums was followed by a roaring The Other One, with a gazinta to our tribute to the Late Phil Lesh, Unbroken Chain. We ended with an epic Morning Dew and the whole crowd sang along with the Beatle's classic LSD. Thanks to all who joined us, if you missed it or want to relive it, we have full video and audio recordings we will produce and release on our YouTube channel soon. In the mean time, come see us Thanksgiving weekend for our regular acoustic Grateful Brunch at the Sardine Room in Plymouth! 11/2/2024 Detroit, MI Grateful Dead night at the Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena Quinn The Eskimo, Mama Tried > Cumberland Blues, Here Comes Sunshine, Dancing In The Street*, Althea, Eyes of the World > Drums > The Other One > Unbroken Chain > Morning Dew > Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds * = Third Stone From The Sun and Dark Star teases |
